Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva Returns
Shammi Silva Who had previously served a term in 2019 are now being elected once again as the New President of Sri Lanka for a period of three years.

“I am thankful for the membership for electing me uncontested as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket,” Shammi said after his victory was confirmed.
“This victory also proves the fact that our stakeholders have understood the yeomen service my previous administration has rendered for the development of the game,” he added.
Mr. Shammi Silva was elected uncontested as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket for the 2021 to 2023 period, during the Sri Lanka Cricket Elections held this morning.

Newly Elected Team Members
Shammi, together with the team members have all been elected, While the new honorary Secretary is Mr. Mohan de Silva, Mr. Lasantha Wickremasinghe – the Treasurer, Mr. Chryshantha Kapuwatte as the Asst. Secretary and Mr. Sujeeva Godaliyadda as the Asst. Treasurer. However Dr. Jayanta Dharmadasa and Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne are still holding the same position as a vice-president of SLC.
Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga
Son of Prime Minister Mainda Rajapakse, Namal Rajapakse announced virtually the re-election of Mr. Shammi Silva. After Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, was pulled out from the elections claiming for illegal process “I don’t get involved in the election process. I will work with whoever gets elected,” Ranatunga explained.
SLC President First Task
Shammi’s first task will be hosting the six-match white ball series – 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against India in July.
“It’s always good to play with the Indian team. Since Sri Lanka is going on a development programme and going with a young side, this will be a great experience for them. The tour will also strengthen the relationship between the two nations further. Hopefully fans will enjoy good cricket.”Namal Rajapakse said.
