Shoriful, Mehidy keep New Zealand down to 328
On day two of the Bay Oval Test, Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan shared six wickets to help Bangladesh dismiss New Zealand for 328. The second day’s morning session was action-packed, with Bangladesh running down New Zealand’s batting order. Henry Nicholls, on the other hand, played with a feeling of purpose to help the home team reach 300 runs.
First Incision of the Day
When Shoriful forced Rachin Ravindra to edge one to the cordon, it was he who made the first incision of the day. Nicholls chose to play aggressively at that point, collecting three boundaries from Ebadot Hossain. He also brought up his fifty with a pull shot in the same over.
Mehidy continued to leave an impact when he dislodged Neil Wagner for his third kill. The request for caught behind it was initially denied, but the visitors were able to have it reversed through the review procedure. Liton Das contributed to the dismissal by taking a superb catch behind the wickets.
Nicholls was eventually taken by part-timer Mominul, who was well assisted by Shadman Islam. After that, Shadman and Mahmdul Hasan Joy brought Bangladesh to the break, despite a few nervous moments with the bat.
Brief scores: New Zealand328 (Devon Conway 122, Henry Nicholls 75; Shoriful Islam 3-69)lead Bangladesh5/0by 323 runs.
