Rajasthan Royals Signed Glenn Phillips For IPL 2021
Glenn Phillips, a New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman, has been recruited by Rajasthan Royals for the UAE leg of the IPL 2021. Philips is the first replacement player for the Rajasthan franchise, which will be without star England players Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler due to injury.
While Archer has been declared out for the rest of the season due to a recurrence of a stress fracture in his right elbow, Buttler will miss the rest of the tournament due to the birth of his second kid with his wife. Buttler had produced his first T20 century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Royals’ final game before the tournament’s suspension.
Ben Stokes Unlikely to Return
Ben Stokes, the all-rounder who has taken an indefinite break from cricket to focus on his mental health, is unlikely to return after playing just one game in the first half of the season before being ruled out for the rest of the competition due to a fractured finger. 0
Phillips, who has never played in the IPL before, will have a lot of shoes to fill in Rajasthan’s lineups, but he has experience on his side, having been one of just five players to score over 200 runs in The Hundred’s debut season.
Phillips has four T20 hundreds and a strike rate of 143.28 in 134 games for the Barbados Tridents in this year’s Caribbean Premier League. The Royals, who are currently in fifth place in the standings, open their UAE leg of the IPL 2021 against Punjab Kings in Dubai on September 21.
