Mayank Agarwal Ruled-Out OF Opening England Test

After being knocked in the head during a training session, Mayank Agarwal has been ruled out of the first Test against England. After being evaluated by the BCCI medical team, the opener revealed signs of concussion.

WTC Final against New Zealand

Losing to New Zealand in the World Test Championship final in June, India is already dealing with a slew of ailments. Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan have all been ruled out of the series, with Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav being brought in as substitutes. The pair, on the other hand, will be required to quarantine for ten days before being available for the third Test.

With Mayank out of the picture, India can pair Rohit Sharma with either Abhimanyu Easwaran or KL Rahul, the other openers in the lineup. As they did in Australia, the think-tank may consider pushing Hanuma Vihari to the starting position. Meanwhile, India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has ruled out Cheteshwar Pujara opening the batting.

“Pujara is our No.3 batsman. Who’ll open our innings, we are again finalizing our combination, it’s not yet finalized. Pujara has been really solid for us as No. 3 batsmen and he’ll continue to bat at No. 3. As an opening bat, the captain, coach and management will decide the combination and you’ll get to know soon.”

The five-match Test series will begin on August 4 at Trent Bridge, with the other four matches taking place at Lord’s, Headingley, Kennington Oval, and Old Trafford.
