Mark Wood Ruled-Out Of Headingley Test
Mark Wood is the latest England fast bowler to be ruled out of the third Test against India due to a dislocated right shoulder. Wood was injured diving to rescue a boundary on the fourth day of the second Test at Lord’s, and he was only able to bowl four overs on the last day.
He will stay in Leeds with the team and continue his rehabilitation with England’s medical experts. England has not called up a replacement fast bowler. As a result of Wood’s injury, Saqib Mahmood is set to make his Test debut, with Craig Overton also in contention. The other seamers on the team are James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, and Sam Curran.
Fifth England seamer to be ruled out
Wood is the fifth England seamer to be ruled out of the third Test due to injury, joining Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Olly Stone, and Chris Woakes, while Ben Stokes is also out after taking a hiatus from the game to focus on his mental health. Archer, Broad, and Stone are all out of the series, but Woakes has been picked to Warwickshire’s second XI side to face Worcestershire at New Road. According to an England statement, Wood will be evaluated further at the conclusion of the third test.
