Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings To Reach Dubai Early
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to release the schedule for the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL)2021, but the franchises have already informed the board of their plans to play the remaining 31 games in the UAE in September and October. The top three teams in the IPL points table have alerted the BCCI of their intentions to move early in Dubai by August 20.
The Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have stated that they plan to arrive in Dubai on August 20 and begin their training camp, which will be preceded by a required time of isolation as per local government and BCCI guidelines. The two parties have postponed plans to hold a camp in India due to the epidemic and monsoon.
“We want to be there by August 15, latest by 20th and we have informed the BCCI that we want to be there by then. We are hoping to get the required permissions, without which the logistical plans will be difficult to execute,” said CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan.
Delhi Led the Table with 12 points in 8 games
When the IPL was paused in May due to a COVID-19 surge among the teams, Delhi led the table with 12 points (8 games), followed by CSK and RCB with 10 points apiece from seven games. Mumbai Indians (8 points from 7 games) are the fourth team on the points table, and their plans are unknown, as are the plans of the other four teams-Rajasthan Royals (6 points from 7 games), Punjab Kings (6 points from 8 games), Kolkata Knight Riders (4 points from7) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (4 points from 7 games) (2 from 7).
IPL Tentative Dates
The BCCI had promised the teams that the revised schedule would be available by July 15, but it has yet to be distributed. Top BCCI executives are currently in Dubai, having traveled there as well as to Oman for the T20 World Cup opening. As a result, the IPL dates will be announced only after their return, which is expected in the next few days. The IPL is set to begin on September 19-20 and conclude on October 15th.
