Bangladesh Rope In Herath, Prince As Consultants

Former Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath , South African batsman together with Ashwell Prince has been named spin bowling and batting consultants for the Bangladesh national squad.

Herath was considered the favorite to succeed Vettori as a spin coach. The famed Sri Lankan spinner will succeed temporary spin coach Sohel Islam, while Prince has been named in place of Jon Lewis.

Herath will join the Bangladesh coaching staff in Zimbabwe, where he will remain till the completion of Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup campaign. Prince has secured an arrangement with the BCB to work with the Bangladesh batsmen for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, according to the BCB.

“At this point, getting a coach is very difficult due to Covid, so we have picked them on a short-term basis and if we find them satisfactory, we will continue with them,” BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told

”Prince was a good batsman and we have spoken with our head coach (Domingo) before including him in our set-up. If the players like Herath and we are happy, we will certainly think about him beyond the T20 WC.

Herath,43, is an ICC/SLC Level 3 coach who specializes in spin bowling and is the most successful left-arm spinner in Test cricket history with 433 wickets in a spectacular two-decade career. South Africa has capped Prince 119 times across all formats.
