Andre Russell Return To West Indies For First SA Game
For the first time in over two years of the prestigious league , Andre Russell was picked by the selection pannel to play in the West Indies T20I squad.
The talismanic all-rounder was included to the 13-man team for the opening two T20Is against South Africa by the Cricket West Indies selection panel. Russell last played for the West Indies in a T20I series against Sri Lanka in March 2020.

The lead selector, Roger Harper, praised Russell as a game-changing batsman who could influence the game with both the bat and the ball, and emphasized the importance of the five-match T20I series leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later this year.
“Andre Russell will add that ‘X’ factor to the team,” said Harper. “He is an impact player with both bat and ball, and lends greater depth in both departments.
“The aim is to build on the performance against Sri Lanka earlier this year, to build confidence, while determining our best squad and team as we run into the ICC T20 World Cup.”

Last month, West Indies named an 18-man provisional team for the upcoming series; Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Akeal Hosein, Oshane Thomas, and Hayden Walsh Jr were among the five players who did not make the final roster for the first two T20Is.
West Indies are looking a scary side with the return of their T20 superstars, the power and depth that they get with Gayle, Fletcher, Lewis, Pollard, Bravo, Holder, Russell…and Edwards makes them the side to watch out for at T20 World Cup. Can defend their title! Beware England
